They are a good source of dietary fiber and contain a number of vitamins and minerals, including B-vitamins (niacin, folate, thiamin, riboflavin, folate, pantothenic acid, pyridoxine) as well as zinc, magnesium, copper, iron, calcium and potassium.

Baobab Powder (organic) is a baobab tree (Adansonia digitata) which is a deciduous tree native to Africa and is typically found in dry, hot sub-Saharan Africa, Madagascar and Arabia, as well as in arid areas in Australia. Its name ‘baobab’ is derived from Arabic and means “father of many seeds”. It is also known as monkey bread tree, cream of tartar tree and upside down tree, due to it looking like an uprooted tree standing on its end. In Africa it’s known as the Tree of Life because all parts of the tree are used for food, drink and other necessary items. It’s thought the trees could live to be as old as 1,500 years. With its disproportionately thick trunk relative to its height and sparse branches, the tree produces heavy white flowers which are pollinated at night by fruit bats and become long green or brownish fruits that look like small gourds. The fruit has a hard shell, kidney-shaped seeds, and soft, creamy white pulp that is slightly powdery and gritty. Baobab fruit is tart and has a unique, pleasant fruity flavor. Baobab is low in fat, high in soluble and insoluble fiber, including pectin, and high in vitamin C. It is also a good source of potassium, iron, magnesium, calcium and also contains phytosterols, zinc, manganese, phosphorus and B vitamins.

MCTs are easily digested. Unlike other fats, when MCTs are processed in the body they go straight from the gut to the liver, where they are rapidly converted into ketones to provide energy to the body. Preliminary studies suggest C8 is the most metabolically active medium-chain fatty acid, most easily converted to energy in the body, although more studies are needed.
