Healthy LDL cholesterol levels are a key to maintaining cardiovascular health. A clinical study has shown that HTEssence® has a beneficial effect on LDL cholesterol values. Available as an odorless, water-soluble powder, it can be used in functional foods and dietary supplements in the form of tablets, capsules, energy bars and functional beverages.
In a clinical trial, HTEssence® achieves a change in the LDL cholesterol level of -8 % compared to the original value (-9,4 mg/dl). Twenty-nine healthy test subjects were each administered with 30 mg of hydroxytyrosol daily for four weeks.

HTEssence® has an oxygen radical absorbance capacity (ORAC) of 45,000 μmol TE/g, making it over thirty times more effective than vitamin C at scavenging oxygen radicals. Even after spray drying (20% hydroxytyrosol on maltodextrin), the ORAC value of HTEssence® is still 6.5 times higher than that of vitamin C.
