Fibertec's wollastonite products come in powder and fibrous grades. Powder grades tend to be used as fillers in coatings, adhesives, sealants and paints. It is an inert material with an alkaline pH that improves toughness, weather resistance and moisture absorption. Powders, while having some aspect ratio, all tend to be -325 mesh. Fiber grades have a diameter ranging from 5 to 15 microns and aspect ratios from 15 to 20. They are most commonly used as a lower cost, lower performance replacement for milled fibers in composites. They are compatible with all resins and may be surface treated. Fibertec wollastonites are acicular (needle-like) mineral products milled to various morphologies and bulk densities. These products can be surface treated to enhance performance in thermoset and thermoplastic resins. Fibertec wollastonite is used as functional fillers and reinforcements in composites (thermosets) and compounds (thermoplastics) to increase mechanical properties (tensile, flexural, impact), minimize distortion at elevated temperatures, improve dimensional stability, and provide low moisture absorption.

VINNAPAS® is WACKER’s brand name for a versatile range of polymer-based dispersions, powders and resins that are used to improve the properties and performance of products in a wide range of industries. The portfolio has been continuously improved and optimized since the 1950s. Thus, VINNAPAS® products set the standard and are leading in many applications.

S-glass is a high performance glass fiber, distinguished from E-glass primarily by its higher silica content. S-glass typically contains the oxides of silicon, aluminum, and magnesium.

RodLock® is a two-part non sag methacrylate, structural bonding adhesive designed for the structural bonding of steel and fiberglass rods into natural stone, granite, marble and porcelain counter top products. Combined at a ratio of 1:1, RodLock has a working time of 4 to 8 minutes and achieves nearly 90 percent of its ultimate strength in 10 to 15 minutes at room temperature curing. RodLock provides high strength bonds to the above reference surfaces with generally no preparation effort. RodLock bonds very strongly to steel, stainless steel, and aluminum metals. RodLock adhesives are not uv stable, and will yellow over time and must not be used to create imperceptible seams in countertops or for seaming countertops. This yellowing will not affect bond performance, but will affect bond appearance. Due to its high strength, keep groove widths and depths to a minimum, as wide and deep grooves may cause RodLock to crack the granite upon reacting and shrinking. We are not liable for cracked counter tops due to this effect.

FILAVA TM is the essential fiber reinforcement in very high performance composite materials as well as in the field of technical textiles. With high mechanical, chemical and thermal properties, FILAVA TM is a product with very high added value. Thanks to its elasticity and temperature resistance, FILAVA TM can advantageously replace S and R glass fibers, steel, aramid and carbon fibers. With this unparalleled quality, FILAVA TM has become essential in fields as varied as aeronautics, automotive, wind energy, shipbuilding, construction, armor, fire-resistant fabrics, etc.

LiNNOTAM stands for: Licharz iNNOvation in LacTAM and includes all polyamides manufactured by Licharz in the monomer casting process from caprolactam or laurolactam . Due to its balanced mechanical properties and excellent machinability, LiNNOTAM is particularly suitable as a construction material for machine and plant construction.

Perfluoroelastomer (FFKM) is the most chemically resistant elastomer available and is effectively a rubber form of PTFE. Perlast® perfluoroelastomer grades provide other properties which prove most valuable in critical sealing applications where purity, high temperatures and retention of sealing force are paramount. The Perlast® range of perfluoroelastomer materials are at the leading edge of polymer technology. They have been developed to offer superior sealing solutions with enhanced performance and improved functionality, which is proven in the field (see case studies).

Based on GMT, the composite GMTex® has been further developed for applications demanding high impact resistance, strength and durability. In the production of these high-performance thermoplastic composites, the basic materials of polypropylene (PP) or polyamide (PA) are reinforced with woven and randomly laid fibers (multi-layer glass fiber technology).

Fibertec mineral wool fibers are inorganic synthetic fibers that have been specifically milled and processed to controlled lengths and with predictable diameters and aspect ratios. These mineral fibers are generated from complex mineral silicates having as primary components silicates of calcium, magnesium and aluminum. Fibertec mineral fibers can be surface treated to enhance performance in selected resin systems. urther, because these fibers are additionally characterized by very low loose and tapped bulk densities, they are desirable for low-density reinforced thermoset and thermoplastic systems.

Polybutylene terephthalate is a semi-crystalline material from the polyester family of plastics and, due to its good thermal and mechanical properties, is counted among the polymer group of engineering plastics. It has a high surface hardness and good sliding and wear behavior.

ZERO® is a patented non-woven fabric with a relatively small percentage of binder material (less than 3%). The binder is applied to only one side of the fabric resulting in virtually no crimp in the reinforcement fibers. ZERO® is highly efficient and very affordable.

SymaLITE is the name given to its special lightweight composites. These Low Weight Reinforced Thermoplastics (LWRT) make up a product group of special lightweight plastic composites with low thermal expansion and excellent mechanical and physical properties. The mixed glass and polymer fiber fleeces produced in special textile processes are supplied as rolls and boards and can be cost-efficient further-converted into three-dimensional components by low-pressure molding. The ultra-light, freely shapeable SymaLITE thermoplastic is noise-absorbent and can be faced directly with functional and decorative cover layers without adhesives having to be used. This eliminates an entire production step.

Material & Design Solutions’ (MDS) PEKTRON PEEK is an excellent choice for high temperature, high pressure applications in aggressive chemical environments. These injection molded PEEK compounds have been qualified for use up to 550°F (288°C) and 22,500 psi (0.16 GPa). PEKTRON PEEK high performance thermoplastics offer outstanding chemical resistance and wear properties in a broad spectrum of industries and applications. The injection molded compounds demonstrate excellent resistance to hot water and steam and are unaffected by continuous exposure up to 550°F (288°C).

Fibertec micas are platy minerals. Mica is generically a complex group of aluminosilicates occurring naturally as plates or sheet-like forms. Fibertec micas can be surface treated to enhance performance in various resin systems. Fibertec mica is used as functional fillers providing reinforcement in thermoplastic and thermoset resins to improve flexural modulus, tensile strength, impact strength while minimizing shrinking and warping at elevated temperatures.

Our glass fiber reinforcements are 10 or 16 microns in diameter and milled to lengths ranging from 120 to 470 microns. They are used in composites to increase mechanical properties such as tensile, flexural and impact strength. They are also used to increase dimensional stability and minimize distortion at elevated temperatures. Milled glass fibers are compatible with all thermoset and thermoplastics resins. Surface treatments are available that may enhance performance. Microglass milled fibers are E-glass filaments hammer milled to various bulk densities. Microglass is used as a filler/reinforcement in composites to increase mechanical properties (tensile, flexural and impact), improve dimensional stability and minimize distortion at elevated temperatures.

FlexForm is a non-woven composite material made from a blend of natural fibers and synthetic fibers. It is an excellent substitute for many existing wood fiber, wood flour and fiberglass reinforced plastics. It is available in various formats for a variety of heating capabilities prior to molding:
