The main task was the start of peat extraction on the raised bog in Garanas, which was used as planting material and in the meantime also as bedding. In the first 15 years before the opening of the moor bath in Schwanberg, the raised moor peat was sold as far away as Vienna and northern Italy, which enabled up to 12 employees to be employed. Start of deliveries of the recognized healing moor to the Schwanberg moor spa for medical use (moor porridge baths, moor packs, etc.). Whittemore Company’s roots have been traced back to 1919. Located in Roslindale, Massachusetts the company was originally established to distribute feed, grain and coal.
