    SPOLANA s.r.o. (“Spolana”) was founded on 1 May 1992 with the transformation of a state enterprise. Spolana has been part of the ORLEN Unipetrol Group, which is itself part of the PKN Orlen Group, since June 2016. Spolana was a part of the Polish company Zakłady Azotowe ANWIL SA (the company having changed its trade name to ANWIL Spółka Akcyjna on 15 January 2010), which is also part of the PKN Orlen Group, between 2006 and 2016. The company is based in Neratovice, its production plant, covering some 260 hectares, 25 km to the north of Prague on the River Elbe. It currently employs more than 700 members of staff. Spolana mainly concentrates on exporting its products, exporting more than 80 % of that which it produces. The Spolana production plant is the only manufacturer of PVC (sold under the name of Neralit®) and caprolactam in the Czech Republic. The company also manufactures industrial fertiliser during the manufacture of caprolactam and containing nitrogen in ammonium form and sulphur in the form of sulphuric anhydride. It also contains a small amount of ammonium nitrate, the concentration of which does not exceed 1.5 %. It is used for direct fertilisation. The fertiliser is sold under the name of Spolsan® and is manufactured in crystalline and granulated form.
