PROBIOLIFT™ is a probiotherapy cosmetic ingredient made of millions of live but dormant Lactobacillus crispatus bacteria, which are naturally found on the skin. As skin microbiota diversity changes with age, certain beneficial lactic acid bacteria decrease in mature skin. BASF researchers found that Lactobacillus crispatus is one such bacterium, decreasing in specific skin areas and disappearing from the wrinkle hollows of older individuals. When activated by water on the skin, PROBIOLIFT™ increases dermal density, improves the appearance of forehead wrinkles, and protects skin from oxidative stress. Unlike other biotics on the cosmetic market, PROBIOLIFT™ uses a bacterium that is naturally present on the skin. PROBIOLIFT™ is perfectly complemented by Postbiolift, which is derived from the same biofermentation process.
