Features & Benefits

Industrial Additives Features

Alley Cat® 250 starch is an engineered, cationic starch developed for use as a wet-end additive in paper and packaging grades. Alley Cat® 250 has been shown to improve internal strength compared to traditional wet-end starches while significantly enhancing drainage and retention. As such, Alley Cat® technology offers the papermaker a unique option when considering wet-end starches. Alley Cat® 250 is considered to have a high charge level.

Applications & Uses

Industrial Additives End Use

Alley Cat® 250 can be added to the thick or thin stock of the paper machine at solids levels of 0.5% to 2.5% for internal strength development and for improved retention and drainage. The optimized point of addition and paste dilution levels can be determined with the assistance of your Cargill Technical Service personnel.

Preparation - Alley Cat® 250 starch solutions are obtained by dispersion of the powder in water and cooking by steam: Jet injection of steam: continuous cooking at 240° F to 290° F, at final paste solids up to 2.5%. Open vessel with stirrer: Not recommended. Your Cargill Technical Service personnel can help determine the ideal cooking conditions for maximum performance of Alley Cat® 250.
