- Recommendation for Use
- A special surface treatment of AGOCEL® AC 5500 facilitates an easy, lump-free and homogeneous introduction of the powder into preset, neutral or acid aqueous phases in the production of paints and plasters. The moment of hydration and thus the beginning of the viscosity development can be controlled, if necessary, through a change in the pH value.
- If the swelling needs to be retarded over a longer period of time due to the selected production technology, we recommend adjusting a slightly acid pH range (pH 4.0 – 5.0). Furthermore, we recommend regulating the pH value at values around pH 9.0 in case quick swelling is required after the powder components have been dispersed. If the product is added to alkaline aqueous phases, a spontaneous swelling will start which may cause lump formation. A change in the pH value after swelling has no further influence on the hydration properties.
- The optimal application amount varies depending on the application field, origin and type of raw materials in use.
- AGOCEL® AC 5500 does not contain any preservatives. We recommend adding enough to the aqueous and ready for use products.
