Product Properties

• AFCONA-6220 is able to stabilize inorganic and organic pigments in water and solvent systems. In addition, it improves the compatibility of the polar ingredients of universal colorants when used in non-polar solvent-based paints. This product is an economic dispersant for the preparation of universal pigment concentrates for water - and solvent-based decorative coatings. (For more effectiveness, use in combination with AFCONA – 4560.)
• AFCONA-6220 improves the color acceptance of commercial colorants in air-drying alkyds. AFCONA-6220 is also an activator for Bentonites and associated and acrylic thickeners

Note: AFCONA – 6220 will become slightly hazy at temperatures below 5°C. This will not influence the performance of the product.

Addition and Dosage

Calculation method for the required amount of active ingredient based on pigment:

Universal colorants:

• 5 - 10% for inorganic pigments
• 10 - 20% for organic pigments

Base paints - 0.5 - 1.5% on total base paints
Bentonites/thickeners - 15 - 25% on active substance

Incorporation

AFCONA-6220 can be incorporated in the mill - base or used as a post additive.

AFCONA-6220 should be stored in a cool, dry place. When kept in its original, unopened container, it will keep up to 5 years from the date of manufacture. The expiration date is indicated on the container.
