Product Properties
  • AFCONA-6230 is a wetting and dispersing agent for inorganic pigments and fillers in solvent-based, solvent-free, and water-based systems. It also helps improve color acceptance in these systems. AFCONA – 6230 increases the possible pigment loading in mill bases or pigment concentrates. This enables formulators to achieve VOC levels below 250 g/l in high-filled solvent-based systems.
  • AFCONA – 6230 can be used in all solvent - based and solvent-free industrial and decorative coatings. It is especially suitable for wetting, dispersing and stabilizing inorganic pigments and fillers in solvent-free epoxies and polyurethanes, like flooring or pipe-line coatings .
  • AFCONA – 6230 also can be used to decrease the viscosity of water-based, resin-free pigment concentrates based on the high molecular weight dispersing agent AFCONA – 4560.
  • AFCONA – 6230 performs well when dispersing and stabilizing inorganic pigments and fillers in water-based decorative paints based on acrylic emulsions, giving better rheology and improved gloss. Due to its polyether structure, this product also can be used as color acceptance additive.

Note: AFCONA – 6230 will become hazy or may crystallize at temperatures of 15° C. and below. Re-heat the material before use if crystallization happens. This will not influence the performance of AFCONA - 6230.

Addition and Dosage
  • 1 – 3% based on fillers and inorganic pigments
  • 5 – 7% based on organic pigments
Incorporation

When used in a mill base, AFCONA-6230 should be added before grinding. If it is used as a post additive in pigment concentrates, good dispersion is required.
