Decal 2045+ is a concentrated, hydrophobic dispersion used to disperse inorganic fillers and pigments in waterborne systems. DeCAL 2045+ is the sodium salt of a carboxylic acid polymer in water, developed with a higher concentration and improved efficiency. Compared to DeCAL 2045, dosages can be reduced by up to 40% while still maintaining performance. It is recommended for reactive pigment grades and is ideally suited for systems where improvements in water resistance, wet scrub resistance, and blocking resistance are required.

Applications
  • Decorative Paints and Coatings - DeCAL 2045++ is an ideal dispersing agent for water borne high gloss coatings containing polypropylene glycol and other glycols used to promote wet edge time and film coalescence. Improvements in color development and color acceptance are also seen when using DeCAL 2045++.
  • Adhesives & Latex Compounds - DeCAL 2045++ is used to disperse fillers and pigments in many products such as water-based adhesives and glues, grouts, and fillers. It is especially suited for D2 tile adhesives in compliance with European Standards Dispersion Adhesive for Ceramic Tiles EN12004.
Application Method
  • DeCAL 2045++ should be thoroughly mixed with water before adding pigments and fillers to the system using high shear mixers. Using this method very high pigment loading can be achieved.
  • For optimum dispersing efficiency the pH of the system must be alkaline and preferably above pH 8.
  • In common with other dispersing agents, because of batch to batch variations of the demands of a specific pigment it is recommended that the formulator uses 1.5 - 2.0 times the determined optimum level of dispersing agent.
  • Optimum dispersant levels :
    Titanium Dioxide - 0.6% w/w
    Calcium Carbonate - 0.2% w/w
