Portafill® A40

1 of 11 products in this brand
Portafill® A40 is produced from carefully selected synthetic aluminum hydroxide (ATH). The standardized quality of Portafill® A is guaranteed by means of an ISO 9001-certified quality management plan. The chemical composition of the raw material and the finished product is closely monitored, and the particle size is kept within a narrow variation. Portafill® A micronized functional fillers are used in thermosetting powder coatings as an alternative to barium sulfate, when the high density is a limitation. In addition, Portafill® A fillers are less prone to the phenomenon known as "water spotting" in comparison to barium sulfate. It has very good chemical inertness (for outdoor and chemical applications).

Applications
  • Chemical resistance: due to its inert nature, ATH will provide good chemical resistance compared to conventional fillers.
  • Gloss control: with the availability of ultrafine ground ATH (Portafill A7) and a product with an optimized particle size distribution (Portafill A25/10), it is possible to apply coatings with a broad range of gloss levels.
  • Increasing extruder output: the optimized particle size distribution of Portafill A25/10 provides better free-flowing properties. As a result, the material is easier to dose into the extruder, so the residence time inside the extruder can be optimized.
  • UV resistance: being insensitive to UV radiation, ATH will reduce the coating’s degradation.
  • Water spotting resistance: powder coatings formulated with ATH show less tendency for water spotting then similar coatings formulated with barium sulfate.
