Applications & Uses

Compatible Substrates & Surfaces
Applications
  • DeCAL 2165 is used as a dispersing agent in aqueous pigment dispersions, inks and paints. Due to the chemical structure of this product, agglomeration of pigment particles is prevented due to steric stabilization.
  • DeCAL 2165 can be used as a co-dispersant in waterbased emulsion paints to help prevent color acceptance issues.
  • DeCAL 2165 is also useful in the in the manufacture of carbon black dispersions where it can help reduce the viscosity of the system which contributes to increased carbon black loadings for the formulator. The additional level of this does product vary considerably depending upon the surface area of the particulate. A typical dosage level is between 1 - 10% on particle weight.
  • Synergistic effects can be achieved when using DeCAL 2165 in combination with other anionic type dispersants. DeCAL 2165 also performs well as a surface wetting agent for improving the spreading performance of paints and lacquers.
