- Key Features
Pangel W is a thickener for aqueous systems, manufactured through organic modification of rheological sepiolite. It improves rheological characteristics in the range of shear forces affecting sagging and sedimentation properties, while consistency is controlled.
Pangel W offers the following properties in the water based paint formulations:
In the milling paste
- Easy dispersion
- Development of controlled viscosity
- It enables formulation of a milling paste with a higher solids content
In the final formulation
- Adequate consistency
- Excellent sagging and synerisis control
- Good leveling
- Excellent storage performance
- Good brushability

- Plasters
- Dosage
- Pangel W must be added in the dispersion stage at any moment, however best results are obtained after addition of pigments and fillers at the end of the mill-base avoiding possible interactions with dispersants and wetting agents
- High shear mixing for 5 - 10 minutes must be enough for the right dispersion. In addition, it can be incorporated as a pre- gel made previously in water.
- To reach fully all the benefits of Pangel W a suitable pH level in the final formulation should be around 8 - 10. The pH adjustment point will depend on the type of formulation employed.
- Recommended addition rate for Pangel W can vary significantly depending on the system. Typical addition levels are 0.1 - 1% of Pangel W by weight of total formulation.
