T-Det® O 9

T-Det® O 9 is an anhydrous liquid nonionic surface-active agent produced by the reaction of octyl phenol with 8.5 - 9.5 moles of ethylene oxide. It is used in all phases of detergent compounding and aqueous processing for the textile and paper industries, industrial metal cleaners, acid cleaners, floor cleaners, detergent-sanitizers and waterless hand cleaners. It is particularly useful for household and industrial controlled foam detergents and is an effective emulsifier for solvents such as xylene.

Storage & Handling

Storage, Stability and Handling Information
  • T-Det® “O” nonionic surfactants are stable non-corrosive products in their anhydrous state.
  • They can be stored in plain steel tanks with piping, valves, and pumps of the same metal.
  • Aqueous solutions of T-Det® “O” surfactants must be stored in stainless steel or plastic lined tanks.
  • The octyl phenol-ethylene oxide adducts are slightly hydroscopic.
  • Where necessary, guard against atmospheric moisture pick-up, an inert gas blanket may be used.
  • It should not be mixed with concentrated oxidizing or reducing agents since the mixture of these compounds with organic compounds could form a potentially explosive mixture.
