LRBG Chemicals USA RUFR 1006M

LRBG Chemicals USA RUFR 1006M is an off-white/yellow latex intumescent fire-retardant polyurethane coating designed as a primer coating for wood and engineered wood composites. When applied and dried, it creates a low-gloss protective primer coating. When exposed to temperatures above 200°C, it creates a multicellular protective char layer that shields the wood substrate beneath it from the fire. This system has excellent adhesion to wood composites and yields low flame spread and smoke development ratings. It may be crosslinked with low levels of polycarbodiimide or melamine/urea crosslinkers to achieve excellent water resistance in the surface coating.

Application Procedure
  • RUFR-1006M is supplied as an environmentally friendly rapid drying pale-yellow primer coating at low Volatile Organic Content. RUFR- 1006M dries to a low gloss finish yielding the appearance of a flat yellow primer finish on the original board. The system is an intumescent fire-resistant coating which, when exposed to flame, yields a multicellular protective char layer with low flame spread and low smoke development.
  • The coating is a heavily filled high solids Waterbased Polyurethane primer coating designed as a spray applied fire resistant bond layer for MDF Board. The system is supplied with a mildly thixotropic character typical of latex paints. As with most heavily filled latex paints. some settling and water separation may occur upon storage.
  • The system should be thoroughly mixed prior to application. The applied coating may be air dried or mild forced dried with temperatures not to exceed 120C during curing. Full cure and development of full adhesion properties may require up to 3 days on an air-dry cycle. The cured coating will yield a fire-resistant protective primer coating that may be painted with standard acrylic latex enamels or further processed in laminations.
  • As supplied the RUFR-1006M system is designed for application via hard rubber roll glue spreader. To obtain maximum flame-retardant properties it may be necessary to apply depositions to equate to approximately 6-10 dry mils final thickness on the substrate.a
  • As supplied the RUFR-1006M exhibits a pseudo-plastic rheology to assist in hold out and film build on the substrate. The system demonstrates a decrease in viscosity during high shear conditions and recovers to a high viscosity once applied to the substrate. This assists in allowing maximum film build with minimal sag.
