The resulting vulcanizates exhibit excellent transparency and good to very good mechanical properties. When properly postcured, these vulcanizates comply with BfR and FDA regulations for food contact. They also meet USP XXIII Class VI and ISO 10993 certification requirements. The vulcanization process does not produce peroxide decomposition products. To achieve intermediate hardness, different durometer grades can be blended with the PT 2 catalyst added last.

Articles made from ELASTOSIL® LR 5040/30 A/B exhibit high transparency, excellent electrical properties, and mechanical properties engineered for high tear resistance according to DIN ISO 34-1 A (trousers) and ASTM D 624 B (crescent) without post-curing. The ability to meet regulatory requirements for specific food and baby care applications without the need for post-curing offers key advantages in cost savings and productivity.
