Conventional or organic available Yarrow has been known by several common names including Devil’s nettle, Old Man’s Pepper, Yarroway, Woundwort, Milfoil, Angel flower. The Achillea genus contains over 120 species and several subspecies. Achillea millefolium is widespread throughout Europe while A. lanulosa is common to North America although A. millefolium has been introduced as well. These two species are practically identical Achillea millefolium is native to Europe, Asia and has naturalized throughout North America as well as to other temperate zones of the world. It is a perennial herb with several erect stems arising from multiple rhizomes below the ground. The compound leaves are bright green and feathery. Numerous small, white to pink flower heads are borne in flat-topped clusters (Van Wyk and Wink, 2004). Yarrow is a venerable plant of ancient medicinal repute (Hatfield, 1971). According to legend, the Greek hero Achilles is said to have utilized Yarrow to stop the bleeding (styptic) of his soldiers as well as his own wounds during the Trojan War. It is thought that the genus name, Achillea, comes from this great warrior of Greek mythology. Roman centurions knew this plant under the name Herba militaris and later by ‘Soldier’s Woundwort’ and Carpenter’s Weed, reflecting its use for treating wounds. The species name millefolium is derived from the common name Milfoil which comes from the French mile feuille, meaning ‘1000 leaves’, referring to its feathery leaves, which are divided into thousands of tiny leaflets (Balick, 2014). Yarrow was formally named Achillea millefolium by Linnaeus in 1753 (Keller, 2014).

Conventional or organic available Helichrysum oil is extracted from the Helichrysum italicum plant that mainly grows in European regions of France, Spain and Italy. This plant belongs to the Asteraceae family. The oil is watery and its color is pale yellow although the color may range from pale yellow to red. Besides having a tea and honey undertone, Helichrysum Oil has a characteristic straw-like fruity aroma. The Arab conquerors took the Lemon with them around the Mediterranean basin introducing it around AD 1000 and 1200 into Sicily, Spain and North Africa where it quickly adapted to the Mediterranean climate. The fruit was well known in Europe by the middle ages, and Greeks and Romans were advocates of its therapeutic properties. Lemon essential oil reached the height of its fame when the British began using the citrus fruit to counteract the effects of scurvy. It was introduced to Australia by the Early Settlers. It is extracted from the fresh fruit peel by cold expression. Conventional or organic available Salvia sclarea, clary, or clary sage, is a biennial or short-lived herbaceous perennial in the genus Salvia. It is also known as ‘clear eye’. It is native to the northernMediterranean, along with some areas in North Africa and Central Asia. It is cultivated worldwide. The plant has a lengthy history as a medicinal herb, and is currently grown for its essential oil. The plant is a biennial or perennial generally reaches a height of one meter and has large hairy leaves which are green with a hint of purple. The small flowers are purple or blue in color. The producing plant organs are the flowering tops and leaves. The name is derived from the Latin 'Claris' that means 'clear'. It was known in the Middle Ages as 'Oculus Christi' - the 'Eye of Christ' and was a highly esteemed medicine. Like its relative sage, clary tea, the leaf juice in ale or beer, was recommended for many types of women’s problems, including delayed or painful menstruation. It was once used to stop night sweating in tuberculosis patients. An astringent is gargled, douched and poured over skin wounds. It is combined with other herbs for kidney problems. The clary seeds form a thick mucilage when soaked for a few minutes and placed in the eye, helps to removed, small irritating particles. A tea of the leaves is also used as an eyewash. Clary is also used to reduce muscle spasms. It is used today mainly to treat digestive problems such as gas and indigestion. Native to South Africa but now cultivated throughout the world, the Pelargonium graveolens plant is an erect, multi-branched shrub that grows up to 1.5m and has a spread of 1m. Geranium oil is steam distilled from the leaves and branches of the plant. The mobile oil appears to be olive to green in color with a sharp and herbaceous green odor and sweet minty-rose undertones.

Allspice, also known as Jamaica Pepper or Pimento, is a large evergreen tree that features fragrant bark, leaves, flowers and berries. It is native to the West Indies, Caribbean and Central and South America. It is now grown commercially in Jamaica, Mexico and Trinidad amongst others. The oil comes in two varieties, Allspice Leaf and Allspice Berry, both steam distilled. Allspice Berry Oil has a lower Eugenol content than the leaf oil. It is the more expensive of the two oils, and is considered a safer oil due to its lower Eugenol content, and has a more pleasant aroma. With a yellow to brown color and a warm, sweet yet spicy aroma, it is similar in smell to clove and cinnamon, and reminiscent of fall/winter. It has antifungal and antiseptic qualities, and the aroma compliments masculine fragrances.

It is a hardy perennial herb that grows up to 2m in height with yellow flowers and fine, feathery leaves. It is a highly aromatic herb. Foeniculum vulgare is indigenous to Mediterranean countries, like Italy, Greece and France but is now grown in northern Europe, Australia and North America. Fennel Sweet has been used in traditional medicine for an array of different ailments. The plant was in fact cultivated by the ancient Romans so they could harvest is aromatic fruits and edible shoots. It was again used in Spanish agriculture dating A.D. 961 and was also used in ancient China and also by the Egyptians. Fennel Sweet oil is a sweet, yet slightly spicy smelling oil. Oregano Oil is derived from the Origanum vulgare - a hardy, busy perennial herb (part of the mint family) which grows up to 90cm. Origanum vulgare is native to Europe, however it is now commonly cultivated all over the world. Oregano Oil is produced by the steam distillation of the leaves and shoots. It is a clear mobile liquid with a strong herbaceous, swett, dry, peppery odor.

Chamaemelum nobilehas daisy-like white flowers and procumbent stems; the leaves are alternate, bipinnate, finely dissected, and downy to glabrous. The solitary, terminal flowerheads, rising 20–30cm (8–12in) above the ground, consist of prominent yellow disk flowers and silver-white ray flowers. The flowering time in the Northern Hemisphere is June and July, and its fragrance is sweet, crisp, fruity and herbaceous. Although the plant is often confused with German chamomile (Matricaria chamomilla), its morphology, properties and chemical composition are markedly different. Roman chamomile (C. nobileL.) has a history of use in traditional medicine since the Middle Ages. The European cultivation of the plant started in England in the 16th century. The plant was listed first in the pharmacopeia of Würtenberg as a carminative, painkiller, diuretic and digestive aid. Joachim Camerarius was the first to discover and name chamaemelum nobile in 1598 in Rome. In Egypt, chamaemelum nobile was used as a symbol of dedication to their gods.

Palmarosa is a tall, herbaceous grass with long stems, aromatic leaves and flowering tops. It is native to Pakistan and India but is also cultivated in Indonesia, Brazil, the Comoro Islands, Africa and Madagascar. Palmarosa essential oil is steam-distilled from the fresh or dried grass which is harvested before the plant flowers. Palmarosa essential oil is also sometimes called Turkish Geranium, East Indian Geranium or Rose Geranium. Because of its rose-like aroma, Palmarosa essential oil has historically been used to adulterate Rose oil. It has also been used in traditional Indian medicine to treat fevers, infectious diseases, rheumatism and nerve pain. Palmarosa was also used to make incense blends in India, and was traded through the trading routes of India and Persia where it migrated for use in the West. Palmarosa essential oil is widely used for moisturizing skin. It effectively treats skin problems such as psoriasis, boils, eczema, acne and other similar problems. Ylang Ylang (Cananga odorata) is a tropical tree native to Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines. It is a fast growing tree that reach well over 10m in an ideal climate The flower is drooping, long-stalked, with six narrow, greenish-yellow petals, rather like a star in appearance, and yields a highly fragrant essential oil. The oil is extracted by steam distillation of the flowers, preferably when picked very early in the morning and can take up to 18 hours for the distillation process to complete. This fragrant oil has a rich floral scent and is highly prized in the perfume industry and is a favorite in cosmetic products. It has a middle/base note. As the steam distillation begins for Ylang Ylang the very first hour or two the oil that is distilled is what is called Ylang Ylang Extra. This is considered the best for use in perfumery and aromatherapy. During the next few hours they will extract in order and by designated amounts of time Ylang Ylang I, II and III, collecting the distilled oil from each time fraction for the various grades of Ylang Ylang oil. As the distillation process continues less oil is extracted until after 12-18 hours all oil has been extracted. Ylang Ylang Complete is either the total of all the oil collected during the whole distillation process or a blend of each of the 4 fractions as they were distilled then blended together in various proportions to give a certain smell quality.

One of the most powerful essential oils in all of aromatherapy, Melissa essential oil is most significantly known for being an effective mood lifter. Because lemon balm uses are popular with the perfume and other industries and the plant has a very low oil yield, the distillation cost is extremely high making it a rare and expensive oil.

Tasmannia lanceolata (syn. Drimys lanceolata), commonly known as the mountain pepper is a shrub native to woodlands and cool temperate rainforest of south-eastern Australia and the mountains of Tasmania. The shrub varies from 2 to 10 m high. This attractive tree has shiny dark green pointed leaves with scarlet stemletts. It has small, waxy, cream flowers which develop into dark charcoal brown pepper berries, only born by the female plants. The small cream or white flowers appear in summer and are followed by black, globose, two-lobed berries 5–8 mm wide, which appear in autumn. There are separate male and female plants. The oil is steam distilled from the fruit of the tree and has an intense peppery background aroma, with spicy, exotic top notes, a hint of cinnamon and the Australian bush.

Tarragon which is known scientifically as Artemisia dracunculus is a perennial herb belonging to the same family as the sunflower. It grows wild in many parts of North America, Europe and Central Asia but is cultivated as a popular culinary and medicinal herb in many other parts of the world. Other common names for the herb are estragon and dragon wort. Artemisia dracunculus var. sativa, a sub-species of tarragon is widely cultivated for its leaves which are used primarily as an aromatic cooking herb. Other sub-species lack the familiar, strong aroma. The various sub-species also go by less formal names. French tarragon is considered to be the best for cooking while Russian tarragon is regarded as superior to wild tarragon. It is believed that dates back to 3500 years before Christ the use of this type of herbs in its most concentrated form, that is, in essential oils, in whose content infinite properties can be achieved, given by more than 100 aromatic molecules found in their pure state and in various proportions which generates beneficial effects for health.

It has been used for skincare for thousands of years Rose Oil Rosa damascena is known as the Queen of Oils, Rose oil is highly sought after for its aroma and powerful topical and emotional benefits. The blooming floral aroma is comforting and Rose oil, used topically, helps promote healthy-looking skin.

Conventional or organic available The Clementine is a citrus hybrid of mandarin and sweet orange. Clementine Essential Oil is extracted from fruit peel. Oil content in peel varies from 0.3 to 0.9%. Like other citrus oils, Clementine is rich in the cleansing chemical component Limonene. In Ancient times Clementines were referred to as the “crown jewel” of the Mandarin family. The clergyman Pierre Clement is credited with crossing a Mandarin and an Orange. This coupling resulted in a seedless mandarin with loose skin and a smooth and shiny appearance. Clementine is another variety of mandarin like Tangerine. It is sweet and easy to peel. It is grown commercially in Algeria, China, Spain, Turkey, Morocco, Brazil, Egypt, the United States, Iran and Argentina.

Conventional or organic available Native to the southern European and Mediterranean regions, the Sage herb was highly valued in both the ancient Greek and Roman societies, which considered it to be sacred. For centuries it has been believed that Sage had the ability to grant a longer life, and in China, it was traditionally used as a remedy for addressing infertility and symptoms of menopause. According to historical records, in some communities, the Sage herb also had culinary applications and was used as a preservative for foods such as meats. In the Middle Ages, Sage earned the nickname “Sage the Savior” for its various treasured properties. For its cleansing and nerve tonic properties, the Lakota Indians nicknamed it “master herb.”

Agonis Fragrans is a relatively new oil from Australia. It was first introduced to aromatherapists in 2006. Agonis Fragrans or Coarse Tea Tree is found on the South Coast of Western Australia. The plant is a small shrub with fragrant white foliage. Agonis fragrans belongs to the Myrtaceae family. It is a small lignotuberous shrub growing up to 2.5 meters. The aroma of Agonis Fragrans is clean, refreshing, delicately camphoraceous with a hint of citrus and a balsamic undertone. It blends well with most other essential oils. Agonis Fragrans is a safe, non-toxic essential oil and is safe for use with children and the elderly. Agonis Fragrans essential oil is extracted via steam distillation of the stems and branches.

Conventional or organic available Thyme oil is typically acquired from the leaves and flowers of Thymus vulgaris via a steam distillation process. The name is derived from the city Bergamo in Lombardy, Italy, where the oil was first sold. The oil has a refreshing citrus scent with a high floral note and is cold pressed from the rind. Eucalyptus globulus is the primary source of Eucalyptus oil around the world. Blue Gum (Eucalyptus globulus) belongs to the Myrtaceae family, an evergreen tree native to Australia. The natural distribution of the species includes Tasmania and southern Victoria. They typically grow from 30–55 m (98–180 ft) tall. The leaves are steam distilled to extract eucalyptus oil - one of the world’s most familiar essential oils and is the best known and most used of all eucalyptus oils with its refreshing and distinct aroma.
