DeCAL 1283 is a highly efficient anionic liquid polymer dispersion in a non-aqueous carrier used as a general-purpose thickener, giving short flow rheology across a wide pH range. DeCAL 1283 is provided in a highly concentrated form, providing good viscosity at low concentrations. DeCAL 1283 is another high-performance product, complementing the DeCAL 1200 range of liquid dispersion-type thickeners.

DeCAL 1283 can be used as a thickener and rheology modifier for many aqueous adhesive, paint and coating compositions, and requires no pH adjustments when used within the range 4 - 11.

Application Method
  • DeCAL 1283 is active over a wide pH range (4-11) and requires no additional alkali. The product should be added directly to the coating mix with high efficiency mixing in order to avoid localized thickening. If necessary dilution with the carrier oil can aid addition.
  • DeCAL 1283 will generally thicken quite rapidly, but the rate of activation is dependent upon temperature, speed of mixing and medium to be thickened.

Thickening Efficiency

DeCAL 1283 provides highly efficient thickening power in water. However in the presence of high electrolyte concentrations we suggest that the use of DeCAL 1200 will give improved long term stability.

Storage Condition

DeCAL 1283 is freeze thaw stable, however it is recommended to store the product at temperatures above 5°C to enable easy handling of the product.
