LIOPTAL 836 is a short-oil-drying alkyd resin. This short-oil alkyd resin is ideal for air-drying primers, as well as single and top coats and good dipping bath stability. Due to its low oil content, this yields quick-drying glossy top coats. Dipping coatings based on LIOPTAL 836 have excellent tank stability. It has applications in primers and lacquers, metal coatings, and industrial coatings.

Processing and Performance

The low oil content of Lioptal 836 yields very quick-drying glossy top coats. With forced
drying, e.g. 30 min / 80°C, very hard films are obt ained within a short period of time.
Dipping coatings based on Lioptal 836 have excellent tank stability. The possibility of
combining with clorinated vinyl polymers (e.g. Laroflax) is also worth mentioning.
We reommend drier blends with a cobalt content (metal) of 0.02-0.04 % per 100 parts solid
resin. If cobalt is to be avoided, then e.g. driers based on manganese may be an option.
Combined with epoxy resters, primers with excellent salt spray resistance can be made
within the 37-40 % pigment volume concentration range.
