Properties and Fields of use

SYNTHALAT-A 090 is principally used in plastics coatings which are air- or oven-drying in
combination with cycloaliphatic polyisocyanate adducts. Since it is also thinnable with white
spirit at ratios of up to 1 : 0.7 it can also be used to coat plastics such as ABS copolymers
without swelling.

Film Properties

SYNTHALAT A 090 is used in combination with cycloaliphatic polyisocyanate adducts such as IPDI-adduct T 1890 S
Veba-Chemie) finishes are obtained which still have good adhesion and flexibility. Good
weather resistance has been demonstrated in accelerated weathering and Florida testing.

Mixing ratio with poly-isocyanates

Based on an equivalent reaction of the reactive groups (NCO : OH = 1 : 1) the formula below
calculates the quantity of polyisocyanate to be added, relative to 100 pts/wt SYNTHALAT-A 090
(solid):

42 = molecular weight of NCO groups

2.7 = % hydroxyl content of SYNTHALAT-A 090,

Pigmentation
