Its fruit contains 30 to 45 red or orange seeds. The seed contains a natural colorant whose main component is Bixin (norbixin dicarboxylic acid) that is used in the food industry as a colorant, seasoning or spice and its importance lies in the fact that it is not toxic and does not alter the taste of food.
