ALFATER® XL Highlights and Advantages

Alfater XL® is a thermoplastic vulcanizate elastomer (TPV) and combines in one material typical properties of elastomers with the advantages of thermoplastics.
Alfater XL® thus represents an economical solution for many technical components, as an alter- native to rubber.

Alfater XL® is based on PP and a dispersed, crosslinked EPDM phase. It is manufactured in a reactive compounding process, also called dynamic vulcanization. The resulting specific morphology enables ex- traordinary properties. The highly cross-linked EPDM ensures excellent elastic properties, such as very good resilience - even with increased temperatures. The PP matrix in turn guarantees a good thermoplastic processing, good coloring and good recyclability of TPV. Long process times and cost-intensive post-processing steps can be reduced or avoided through the use of Alfater XL®.
