- Juniper Berry Oil has a well-liked refreshing, yet warm and subtle balsamic aroma with many therapeutic benefits. Juniper berries themselves are high in flavonoid and polyphenol antioxidants that have strong free radical scavenging abilities. Because they were seen as protectors of health — both emotional and physical health — during the Medieval period, juniper berries were believed to help ward off witches. In fact, for years French hospital wards burned juniper and rosemary to help protect patients against lingering bacteria and infections. A juniper berry is the female seed cone produced by the various species of junipers. It is not a true berry but a cone with unusually fleshy and merged scales, which gives it a berry-like appearance. The cones from a handful of species, especially Juniperus communis, are used as a spice, particularly in European cuisine, and also give gin its distinctive flavor. Juniper berries may be the only spice derived from conifers.

Juniper berry oil is known to be beneficial when it comes to aromatherapy, skin care and general health and wellbeing. It has been shown to ease health complaints such as urine retention, arthritis rheumatism, gout, kidney stones and urinary tract infections.
Skincare: With natural antibacterial, juniper berry oil is one the most natural remedies for fighting skin irritation such as rashes, eczema and infections. Due to its antiseptic abilities it can serve as a home remedy for acne.
Hair care: Juniper oil can permeate the scalp and its cleansing effect works well in detoxifying the hair follicles. It also helps to combat dandruff and its astringent anti-fungal qualities assist in decreasing dandruff growth.
Diffuser: When used with a diffuser juniper berry oil can be relaxing and help with insomnia. It has a light refreshing odor and naturally purifies the air.
Blends well with: Cypress. geranium, lavandin grosso, black pepper, pine scotch, rosemary and sandalwood. For an uplifting blend combine with bergamot, grapefruit, lemongrass, lemon and lime essential oils.
