Products in Packaging Coatings: Waterborne Adhesive

Syntran® 6209 is based on high-solids technology. This technology creates a film with very high flexibility, excellent water resistance, and excellent coverage. This technology also allows for excellent adhesion over multiple substrate types. This white emulsion is used in adhesives, textile and leather coatings, pigmented coatings and sealants, label, board, and packaging coatings (OPV).

KaMin® 90 is a high brightness, fine particle size, general-purpose filler with moderate water demand. KaMin® 90 is ideally suited for solvent and water-borne paint, ink and adhesive applications where high gloss, holdout and controlled rheology are important.

AGITAN 218 is a defoamer for all common emulsion systems.

TAFIGEL PUR 82 is designed as an “associative thickener” which builds up and stabilizes viscosity by forming a network between polyurethane, binder molecules and other paint ingredients. TAFIGEL PUR 82 can be used alone or in combination with other TAFIGEL thickeners, as well as with further thickener technologies. Aqueous gloss paints, thickened with TAFIGEL PUR 82 show minimal pseudoplasticity, similar to the rheology of solvent borne systems. TAFIGEL PUR 82 is recommended for use in following systems: Interior and exterior paints, latex paints, anticorrosive paints, adhesives, and printing inks. TAFIGEL PUR 82 is suitable for indirect food contact applications.

A universal workhorse defoamer effective in most adhesives including wood glue, envelope & label, construction, and natural/neoprene formulations. DEE FO 97-3 is also efficient in pigment dispersing and defoaming metallic inks. The defoamer provides excellent persistence in OPV, wood finishes, and a variety of industrial coating formulations as well.

A high efficiency foam control additive designed especially for OPV and most printing inks, such as corrugated, coated paper, packaging, film and foil.

Fibrillated cellulose in water suspension. Valida S231C, 3% is derived from wood pulp that has been sourced from sustainably managed forests. The product is a multifunctional bio-based additive which can be widely used in waterborne coatings, Inks, adhesives to provide unique rheological and physical properties.

EDAPLAN LA 403 is suitable for all aqueous coating and printing ink systems. The polymer is compatible with all common resin systems.

CURING AGENT W3 DIL is a water dispersable polyisocyanate, NCO content is about 13%. Adhesive emulsions or solutions can be efficiently cross-linked with this product. The cured adhesive will have an increased resistance to heat, water, plasticizers and organic solvents.

A highly effective all purpose defoamer for printing ink formulations, such as corrugated, film & foil, and screen ink formulations. Also provides excellent initial foam knockdown when used as a press-side defoamer.

Winlex 4025 is a low softening point rosin ester with good stability and mild odor. It is easily emulsified in water by conventional means. The principal uses for this resin are in the formulation of oil varnish, lacquer, hot-melt, heat-sealing, and pressure-sensitive adhesives. It has a suitable FDA status for use in food packaging applications covered by 175.105.

AGITAN 305 is recommended for aqueous emulsion systems, specifically for low odor and non-polluting formulations. It is compatible with all common binders.

The presence of Deuteron VT 819 prevents the settling of pigments/extenders and the separation of the liquid phases during the storage in aqueous systems such as emulsion paints and plasters. The applicability of the paints will be improved. Deuteron VT 819 is compatible with most binders and thickeners which are customary in the paint industry.Deuteron VT 819 is fully soluble in water and mixtures of organic liquids with a water proportion of at least 60 %. The product has no tendency to form lumps. Solutions can be produced with a simple stirrer. The use of a high shear rate is not necessary. The product‘s easy solubility is only given when it is incorporated into systems with a pH-value ranging between neutral and alkaline.When the solution is prepared, its pH-value can be adjusted towards an acidic pH-value.Application Aqueous primers, emulsions paints, adhesives, dispersion plasters, printing inks, silicate paints, aqueous preparations of pigments and fillers. back

V-TAC™ 8501

V-TAC™ 7901 dispersion is an aqueous, 53% solids, solvent-free anionic hybrid dispersion compatible with the following latexes: acrylic, styrene-butadiene rubber, polychloroprene and natural rubber. V-TAC™ 7901 enhances adhesion and is especially recommended for acrylic latex systems. V-TAC™ 7901 offers an excellent balance of adhesion for polyolefin substrates and recycled corrugated.

TACKIFIER 71 is an acrylic aqueous dispersion. Tg = -46°C (approx).

A highly persistent and cost effective oil-based defoamer specially designed for use in most emulsion polymers including EVA, VA, and acrylic formulations. Also provides excellent cost effectiveness in many adhesive applications, such as PSA, laminating, packaging, envelope & label, and construction formulations.

CURING AGENT W3 is a liquid polyisocyanate, emulsifiable in water. Acrylic and PU dispersion polymers can be efficiently cross-linked with this product.

METOLAT 288 provides excellent surface wetting without generating foam. The product is free of mineral oil and silicones. METOLAT 288 improves good wetting and increases leveling, especially in low viscosity systems.

An industry standard that provides formulators with an excellent combination of defoaming performance and pinhole free substrate wetting over a wide variety of applications. DEE FO PI-40 can be utilized in most printing ink applications, such as corrugated, packaging, film/foil, coated paper, and screen inks. The defoamer is also highly effective in a large range of OPV, emulsion polymers, industrial paints, wood coatings, and adhesives.

METOLAT 1299 is a silicone-free wetting and leveling agent for water based systems. It improves surface wetting and enhances leveling of low viscous systems. It provides the following properties: Effective in hard or soft water up to 100°C; Effective over a wide pH range

The Micronized Products Mica 325# range of products are obtained as a co-product from the pegmatite ore at our mining operation situated in the Limpopo Province in South Africa. After separation the Mica is delaminated, screened, milled and classified to specific size specifications.

Michem® Prime 4990R provides outstanding adhesion to both metallic and cellulosic substrates and enhances the water, grease, oil, and solvent-resistance of coatings and adhesives. It can serve as a tie coat or primer for extrusion coatings, a foil laminate, specialty paper coating, paper sizing agent, heat sealable coating, and a nonwoven binder, and used as a thermally active binder in thermal transfer release coatings.

V-TAC™ 9001 dispersion is an aqueous, 55% solids, solvent-free anionic rosin based dispersion compatible with the following latexes: acrylic, styrene-butadiene rubber, natural rubber and polychloroprene. V-TAC™ 9001 enhances adhesion as well as superior heat resistance. V-TAC™ 9001 is recommended as a tackifier for pressure sensitive and contact-bond adhesives.

AGITAN 217 is a highly effective defoamer for all common aqueous emulsions. The product is ideal for pigmented systems as well as for adhesives based on animal glue and emulsions.

V-TAC™ 5951 dispersion is an aqueous, 50% solids, solvent-free anionic dispersion based on an aliphatic hydrocarbon resin compatible with the following latexes: acrylic, styrene-butadiene rubber, neoprene and natural rubber. V-TAC™ 5951 enhances adhesion to polyolefin substrates and is highly resistant to acids and alkalis. V-TAC™ 5951 can be used for a variety of applications and offers several benefits as outlined below

EDAPLAN LA 452 reduces the surface tension of aqueous systems without increasing the foam formation. Thus substrate wetting, leveling and gloss are improved. EDAPLAN LA 452 is free of silicone and has no adverse effects on recoatability. This additive is compatible with all common resin systems.

Deuteron SR 28 is soluble in water and forms firm gels when used in small quantities. The extremely high thixotropy avoids a breakdown of the solution even in small quantities.Deuteron SR 28 requires no heat for mixing. It can be stirred into cold water or a liquid agent. Using a higher shearing force would lead to a shorter mixing time and a maximum exploitation of the product respectively. AGITAN 352 is a special composition with excellent stability and high efficiency. AGITAN 352 is alkali and acid resistant and can be used in a pH-range between 3 and 11.

CURING AGENT W9 is a liquid polyisocyanate, emulsifiable in water. Acrylic and PU dispersion polymers can be efficiently cross-linked with this product. The product is diluted in an non-toxic solvent: 1,2-propylene glycol diacetate, CAS 623-84-7.

DEE FO 1015 integrates multiple technologies to provide a complete defoamer package of effectiveness and persistence. It is a unique defoaming technology with excellent stability and high efficiency even during the grind phase of coating manufacture. This defoamer is also alkali and acid resistant since it can be used in a pH-range between 3 and 11.
