SIPERNAT® 2200 PC is an eco-friendly solution. As a micro-granular silica with spherical particles in the range of 320 µm and low fine content, it is used to replace polyethylene beads in exfoliating skincare formulations such as shower gels and body cleansers. In addition to its scrubbing effect, its sponge-like structure can also transport liquid ingredients into the cosmetic formulation. Its microbiological quality is guaranteed through regular and stringent monitoring.

Processing of SIPERNAT® PC

SIPERNAT® 2200 PC - Processing of Sipernat® Pc

SIPERNAT® 250 PC and SIPERNAT® 9000 PC are composed of exceptionally sturdy round-edged Hydrated Silica particles and are therefore the preferred choice for formulations with a long lasting scrubbing effect. The large SIPERNAT 9000 PC particles are selected for strong desquamation or for the function of a sensory indicator when combined with smaller particles for the cleaning. SIPERNAT® 22 PC and SIPERNAT® 2200 PC both feature spherical and softer particles, providing for a gentle cleaning. With its small and soft particles, SIPERNAT 22 PC is specially recommended for its efficient but gentle desquamation. SIPERNAT® 2200 PC with the bigger particles leads to a more pronounced particle sensation in the formulations. As its particles disintegrate while rubbing on skin the product is a preferred choice when gentle cleansing is desired, e.g. for sensitive formulations.

Processing of SIPERNAT® PC
Hydrated Silica

  • Incorporate SIPERNAT® PC Hydrated Silica at low to moderate shear to prevent the destruction of the particle at any time during processing.
  • Typical use concentration is 5 to 10 w.-%. Please note that for the same number of particles higher concentrations of SIPERNAT® PC products with bigger particle size are needed.

Storage Conditions

Our silica products are inert and extremely stable chemically. However, due to their high specific surface area, they can absorb moisture and volatile organic compounds from the surrounding atmosphere. Therefore, we recommend storing the products in sealed containers in a dry, cool place, and removed from volatile organic substances. Even if a product is stored under these conditions, after a longer period it can still pick up ambient moisture over time, which could lead to its exceeding the specified moisture content. For this reason, our recommended use-by date is 24 months after date of manufacture. Product more than 24 months old should be tested for moisture content before use in order to make certain that it is still suitable for the intended application.
