Application Details
  • SILFOAM® SD 170 A is recommended for all organic systems that require a compatible antifoam agent. It is particularly recommended for systems with high surfactant content or which entail high shear forces. In those systems purely organic defoamers rapidly become ineffective. SILFOAM® SD 170 A also serves as an antifoam agent for strongly foaming, fine particle rich suspensions and in the production of redispersible powders.
  • SILFOAM® SD 170 A is an excellent additive to detergents and organic fabric softener base emulsions to aid in controlling foam in the wash and rinse cycles.
  • SILFOAM® SD 170 A can be used undiluted.

Processing

  • The exact dosage must be determined in preliminary tests. We recommend starting with amounts between 0.05 and 0.3%.
  • Generally, the product should be added as it is, as its self-dispersing properties will usually ensure an adequate and homogeneous distribution. If the SILFOAM® SD 170 A is diluted with water, the resultant dispersion must be used quickly.
  • It is recommended that SILFOAM® SD 170 A be stirred before use.
