Application Details

ELASTOSIL® LR 3070/40 US A/B can be processed using standard liquid rubber injection molding techniques for over molding or co-molding (2K processes) without special treatment of the mold surface. Parts made from ELASTOSIL® LR 3070-series can be used for technical applications without post curing but do not comply with regulations for pharmaceutical or food contact.

Processing

ELASTOSIL® LR 3070/40 US A/B is a 2-part, 1:1 ratio system. Parts A and B are delivered in matching quantities in 20-kg and 200-kg pails and drums. With proper metering equipment, product can be pumped 1:1 (A:B) directly from the containers into a static mixer and the injection molding machine. The mixed pot life in the closed system is 2-3 days. Note: New molds should be “seasoned” with ELASTOSIL® LR 3003 for 100 shots prior to production.

Properties

ELASTOSIL® LR 3070 series are primerless self-bonding grades that adhere to various plastic substrates e.g. PA, PBT and metals, but not to the mold surface. The bonding is improved by oven-cure for 1 hour at 100°C or 24 hours at room temperature. Because of individual surface properties, each substrate must be tested before production.

Note

Cure conditions : Press cure 5 mins at 165°C.

Storage Information
  • ELASTOSIL® LR 3070/40 US A/B has a shelf life of 6 months when stored below 32°C in the tightly closed original container.
  • Storage beyond the recommended shelf-life does not necessarily mean that the product is no longer usable.
  • However, the properties required for the intended use must be checked for quality assurance reasons.
  • Once opened, containers should always be resealed to prevent catalyst poisoning by amines, sulfur compounds, and other substances
