Clinton 277 Acid Modified Industrial Corn Starch #028277 is a low-viscosity, acid-modified starch that is employed by the paper and textile industries for size applications, particularly at high temperatures. A benefit of this product is that the hot paste is less viscous than that of an unmodified starch, and at elevated temperatures, the pastes are slightly clearer. For most applications, it is desirable to hold this paste at high temperatures to prevent excessive setback. When dried, this starch forms tough, opaque films that withstand the physical tests characteristic of the paper industry, such as the tensile, Mullen, and wax pick tests.

ADM 115 Non-GMO Food Grade Native Corn Starch #028164 is a highly refined product and a low-moisture basic powdered starch manufactured by ADM in Europe. This product is used in food applications such as puddings, salad dressings, prepared mixes, and gravies. As an unmodified (thick-boiling) starch, it is typically high in viscosity, with a good body at both low and high solids. Additionally, the setback (viscosity increase upon aging of the starch paste) is characteristically high for this product.

It is a water solution of a hydrogenated, partially hydrolyzed starch containing maltitol, sorbitol, and hydrogenated oligosaccharides and polysaccharides. It is miscible with water and glycerin, and slightly miscible with alcohol. It is non-crystallizing and is used as a humectant and texturizing agent in a wide range of products. Since maltitol is very similar to sucrose in sweetness and functionality, it is often used to replace sugars in sugar-free, no sugar-added, and low net carbohydrate products such as nutritional bars, hard candy, soft confections, frozen desserts, and baked sweet goods. It is non-cariogenic and qualifies for the FDA authorized “does not promote tooth decay” health claim.

Clinton 225 Acid Modified Industrial Corn Starch #028225 is a relatively high-viscosity, acid-modified starch that is employed by the corrugating industry as a carrier starch. This product has a moisture content of 9 - 13% and a pH in the range of 6.0 - 7.0.
