- Application Details
SILRES® BS 97 is diluted with water in a ratio of 1:10 to 1:19 and applied by spraying. Best substrate temperatures range from 50 to 200°C. For the core impregnation of insulating materials SILRES® BS 97 is usually added to the binder system, followed by a short-term heat treatment of 100 - 180°C. Mineral fiber boards are best impregnated by dipping and then drying at approx. 100°C. The optimum amount to be added must be established in preliminary trials. If the application has been interrupted for long periods, the spraying nozzles should be cleaned with water or aqueous caustic soda. SILRES® BS 97 is especially suited for the water-repellent treatment of expanded mineral materials (vermiculites, perlites, clay) and of fibrous insulating materials based on minerals or plants (coconut fibers, glass, basalt, slags).
