Applications & Uses

Application Details
  • ELASTOSIL® COLOR PASTE FL UV FLUORESCENT has been developed particularly for coloring addition-curing ELASTOSIL® LR liquid silicone rubber and ELASTOSIL® RT RTV-2 silicone rubber.
  • It has been developed specifically for fluorescent marking of addition cure silicone rubber. Silicone molded parts or coatings pigmented with this color paste give off a deep blue-violet glow when irradiated with UV light.
  • Silicone processors can exploit this property to develop automated quality control systems for their manufacturing setup.

Processing

Before using an ELASTOSIL® COLOR PASTE FL, the color paste must be thoroughly stirred. This is also necessary if there has been a long interruption in production or from time to time in case of very long productions runs. Depending on the color intensity desired, 0.5 to 4.0 % pigment paste should be added. The concentration should be kept at a minimum. In individual cases, an excess of color paste may slow down the curing characteristics.
