- Application Details
- Basically, SILFOAM® SD 670 is recommended for all organic systems that require a highly compatible antifoam agent.
- Thus, it is ideal for applications in which silicones would usually cause problems, e. g., printing inks, adhesives, and water miscible cooling lubricants.
- It is particularly recommended for systems with a high surfactant content or which entail high shear forces, e. g., the incorporation of pigments into dispersions. In those systems purely organic defoamers rapidly become ineffective.
- SILFOAM® SD 670 also serves as an antifoam agent for strongly foaming, fine particle rich suspensions and in the production of redispersible powders.
Processing
- The exact dosage must be determined in preliminary tests. We recommend starting with amounts between 0.05% and 0.3%.
- Generally, the product should be added as it is, as its self-dispersing properties will usually ensure an adequate and homogeneous distribution.
- If SILFOAM® SD 670 is diluted with water, the resultant dispersion must be used quickly.
