- ELASTOSIL® COLOR PASTE FL BLACK RAL 9005 has been developed particularly for coloring addition-curing ELASTOSIL® LR liquid silicone rubber and ELASTOSIL® RT RTV-2 silicone rubber.
- ELASTOSIL® COLOR PASTE FL BLACK RAL 9005 may be used for coloring silicone parts intended for sensitive applications and complying with the “Recommendation XV. Silicones" and “IX. Pigments for coloring plastics" of the BfR under observance of any given limitations on extractable and volatile substances.
- For sensitive applications requiring broader approvals, ELASTOSIL® COLOR PASTE FL BLACK RAL 9005 F may be an appropriate alternative. For further details please see TDS and PCS of ELASTOSIL® COLOR PASTE FL BLACK RAL 9005 F.
- The addition of 2 % ELASTOSIL® COLOR PASTE FL BLACK RAL 9005 significantly improves the hot air resistance of vulcanizates.
Processing
Before using ELASTOSIL® COLOR PASTES FL, the paste must be thoroughly stirred. This is also required if there has been a long interruption in production. It may be necessary to repeat this procedure in case of very long production runs. Depending on the color intensity desired, 0.5 to 4.0 % pigment paste should be added, the usual dosage being 2 %. Generally, the dosage should be kept at a minimum. In individual cases, an excess of color paste may slow down the curing characteristics. Customers may produce other colors by mixing pigment pastes. Suggestions for formulations can be provided on request.

ELASTOSIL® COLOR PASTE FL BLACK RAL 9005 is pourable and ready-to-use after stirring up. A dilution is not required. The colors have generally a good resistance to sunlight, UV and hot air. The resistance should be checked for individual cases, especially for long term applications. If the dosage recommendations are followed, the mechanical properties of the colored vulcanizates will not be significantly impaired.
