- Application Details
- The compounds are recommended for all kinds of seals that come into contact with oil and fat. Properly post cured parts can be used for food contact applications and are suitable for use under the Recommendation "XV. Silicones" of the BfR and FDA 177.2600 under observance of any given limitations on extractable and volatile substances.
- ELASTOSIL R 700/40 OH is especially used, when low compression set is crucial for achieving good seal properties.
Processing
- ELASTOSIL® R 700/40 OH is suitable for compression, transfer and injection molding and also for making extruded profiles. ELASTOSIL® R 700/40 OH can be vulcanized with the peroxides in general are used for compression molding or extrusion of solid silicone rubber.
- Highest elasticity and very low compression set can be only achieved with post curing. In case of use of Crosslinker E, a specific migration limit (SML) of 5 mg/kg food (food simulant) must be met on the finished article for the peroxide decomposition substance 2,4-Dichlorobenzoic acid.
