SILFOAM® SE 2263

1 of 38 products in this brand
SILFOAM® SE 2263 is a water-dispersible antifoam emulsion with a low to medium viscosity. It is formulated based on an organomodified polysiloxane. This product effectively prevents foam formation (as an antifoam) and eliminates existing foam (as a defoamer) in various aqueous systems. SILFOAM® SE 2263 is particularly well-suited for applications where the use of silicones could typically present challenges, such as PVC degassing, the manufacturing and processing of polymer dispersions for textiles, paper, paints, surface coatings, and adhesives, as well as cooling lubricants and textile formulations.

Applications

SILFOAM® SE 2263 prevents foaming (act as an antifoam) and destroys existing foam (acts as defoamer) in a large number of aqueous systems.
It is ideal for systems in which silicones would usually cause problems:

  • PVC degassing
  • Manufacture and processing of polymer dispersions for textiles, paper, paints and surface coatings, as well as adhesives
  • Cooling lubricants
  • Textile formulations

Processing

  • In general we recommend stirring the emulsion before use (approx. 3 minutes with a propeller stirrer at 200 – 400 rpm).
  • But be cautious: too high shear can break the emulsion.
  • The typical dosage is in the range of 0.05 to 1.0 % and is best determined by preliminary tests.
  • SILFOAM® SE 2263 can be dosed undiluted, as it is already sufficiently dispersed by its emulsion form.
  • If the use of SILFOAM® SE 2263 should be necessary in diluted form, we recommend preparing dilutions by stirring SILFOAM® SE 2263 gently into cold water.
  • Dilute solutions should be used up quickly as the more dilute they are, the sooner they tend to separate.
  • A 1:1 aqueous dilution remains stable for several days.
