Application Details
  • SILRES BS 50 is added undiluted to coatings either during or immediately after manufacture. We recommend adding 1-3 wt%. SILRES® BS 50 is used as a water-repellent additive for silicate emulsion paints and whitewashes. By adding the water repellent, hydrophobic paints are obtained and the pigments are prevented from washing out, i. e. fading of the coatings is prevented. The durability of the paint is significantly increased.
  • SILRES® BS 50 is suitable as an additive to impart water repellency to mineral-based plasters, particularly to silicate emulsion plasters. It is recommend for lime and lime-cement plasters for the final layer of the plaster which should be 0.5 to 1cm thick. SILRES® BS 50 is added to the mixing water of the mortar preparation. Good water-repellent effect is obtained by adding 5-8 l/m³ finished mortar. The product will develop its effect as the plaster dries out.
